Date of Posting:April 12th, 2024 Date of Closing:April 26th, 2024 Start Date:To be determined Purpose of Position Reporting to the LPN, Team Lead, RN, or DON, Resident Care Workers are graduates from a recognized RCW program who assist other health care personnel, facility staff, and physicians in the care of residents. Teams will be assigned to each floor and neighborhood; duties will be shared when necessary. The RCW will act in compliance with Provincial Community Care and Nursing Care Regulations, as well as all internal policies and procedures. Main Duties
Answer call signals; assist residents to the bathroom; supply and empty bed pans; bathe, dress and groom residents; serve meal trays, feed or assist in feeding of residents and assist residents with menu selection; weigh, lift, turn, and position residents; monitor nutritional intake; supervise residents' exercise routines, set up and provide leisure activities for residents, accompany residents on outside recreational activities and perform other duties related to resident care and comfort.
Take residents' blood pressure, temperature and pulse; report or record fluid intake and output; observe or monitor residents' status and document resident care on charts; administer first aid in emergency situations; collect specimens such as urine, feces or sputum; administer suppositories.
Follow proper resident transfer policies.
Make beds and maintain residents’ rooms.
Maintain inventory of supplies.
Clean and maintain all medical equipment.
Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.
Other duties as required.
Requirements
Education from university or college from a recognized RCW program.
Experience is an asset.
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.
Demonstrated leadership and teamwork qualities.
Current CPR, criminal record check, immunizations, GPA, and TLR.
Working Environment
Rotating shifts between 3 and 12 hours.
Rotating shifts including days, evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays.
Neighborhoods will consist of 16-20 residents.
Frequent interaction with residents, family members, and the public.
Position Available:80-100% PERM Wage Range: $18.90-$19.60
