The following are the answers to some of the basic questions you may have with regards to moving in to the Mount Continuing Care Community. We hope these answers help in making the transition in to your new home as comfortable, and easy, as possible. If you have any more questions please feel free to contact anyone of our staff, as they would be more then happy to assist you.
What is a resident care plan?
Each resident and/or family member will have the opportunity to sit down with a staff member(s) and make a care plan that is individualized to meet the needs of the resident. This will allow our staff members to provide our residents with the highest quality of care in areas such as dietary services, activities, and nursing care. It will also be an opportunity for you and your family members to set goals and expectations regarding your future care in your new home. The resident care plan will be tailored to meet the changing needs of our residents on a yearly basis or as seen necessary by nursing and/or management staff.
What is the difference between community care and nursing care?
Residents who are in community care require some assistance with the activities of daily living, where as, nursing care residents require 24-hour a day skilled nursing care.
Does The Mount accommodate short-term rentals?
Yes, provided a vacant room is available, guests may stay at The Mount by purchasing a room nightly, much like a hotel. Fees vary according to the rooms we have available at the moment. To book a room, or for more inquiries, please contact our administration office at (902) 370-8888.
Are you able to bring your own furniture?
Yes, although our rooms are furnished we encourage residents to personalize their room space with a favorite chair, plants, pictures, etc.
Do residents have access to a telephone, television, and internet in their rooms?
Yes, rooms come equipped with a telephone; however, residents must supply their own television. The costs of these services are the responsibility of the resident. Each service is $/month, or can be bundled for $85/month.
Do residents have access to an internet connection?
Yes, residents have access to both wired and wireless internet connections.
Is smoking permitted at The Mount?
No, The Mount strives to be a smoke-free environment. As such, we insist that all residents be smoke-free upon moving in.
My diet contains certain restrictions, are you able to accommodate these?
Yes, during the orientation process our staff including a professional dietitian will create a meal plan that is specialized to meet your dietary needs.
Can residents bring in outside food?
Yes, residents may bring in outside food, permitted that it is approved by the nursing and/or dietary staff. All personal food must be kept in common area refrigerators, and must be dated and labelled with the resident's name.
Are all residents able to participate in activities?
Yes, all residents are able to participate in activities, including those in secure neighborhoods. All residents have different abilities, and we design our activities to be as inclusive as possible. However, we do require that some of our residents have a staff member, or family companion present during activities.
Is there government subsides available to residents moving into a private long-term care facility?
Upon moving into a home a financial assessment may be completed to see if you are eligible for a subsidy. For more information please visit Health PEI.
