Activities Coordinator - TEMPORARY (3 Months)

The Mount Continuing Care Community is looking for a Activities Coordinator temporary in our long-term care facility in Charlottetown, PEI. This position reports to the administrator and assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for the delivery of recreational therapy and activities in our continuing care community.

We offer:
Wage: $15.00-18.00 per hour depending on experience.
Shifts may range from 3 to 12 hours, with a combination of days, evening, weekends, holidays.

Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Recruit, supervise and train volunteers.
- Plan weekly/or monthly calendars and create day to day activity programs.
- Record resident attendance.
- Coordinate entertainers.
- Report changes in resident’s physical well being to the RN or DON.
- Decorate for functions and holidays.
- Maintain a Resident Council.
- Plan, coordinate, and participate in outings.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.
- Other duties as required.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications (please note only candidates with the following qualifications will be considered):
- Education from a Recreational Therapy Program/related field or equivalent experience.
- Experience as an activities coordinator in Long Term Care an asset.
- Experience with seniors, specifically in dementia care.
- A valid criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.
- Ability to work independently and be self sufficient.
- Experience with computer applications such as Microsoft Office, calendar based software, and email.
- Experience with Social media
- Up to date CPR training.
- Up to date immunizations and TB testing.
- An appropriate class of drivers license may be required.
- GPA and TLR training.
