Job Posting: Nutrition Services Manager Closing Date: August 30th , 2019 Expected Start Date: Early September The Mount Continuing Care Community is currently seeking a Temporary Nutrition Services Manager for our long-term care facility in Charlottetown, PEI. This position reports to the Administrator and assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for the delivery of dietary services in our continuing care community.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications: • Have a Bachelors Degree in Food and Nutrition or professional designation as a Registered Dietitian and good standing with the College of Dietitians of PEI. • Demonstrated management experience in the food industry. • Safe food handling course, WHMIS, CPR.
Main responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Develops, maintains, and implements dietary policies that are in accordance with current standards of practice, facility operational policies, while maintaining compliance with provincial and federal regulations. • Participates in all admissions and consults with residents and families through the resident care planning process. • Completing a nutrition assessment and diet history of all residents upon admission to the long term care facility to determine their nutrition risk. • Develop and monitor a nutrition care plan for each resident. • Work with health care team to complete nutrition consults. • Ensure facility menus are balanced and meet the nutrition and fluid needs of residents and provincial menu standards. • Meet all required standards of resident confidentiality and privacy. • Ensure residents are treated with dignity and respect and residents rights are maintained. • Responds to and adequately resolve incidents, complaints, or concerns from residents or families about nutritional care services, in accordance with legislation and standards. • Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the activities of staff preparing, portioning and serving food. • Portion and order ingredients and supplies required for meal preparation. • Establish methods to meet work schedules and budgets. • Maintain inventory and records of food, menus, schedules, stock, and wastage. • Train staff in job duties, and sanitation and food safety procedures. • Participate in the selection of food service staff and assist in the development of policies, procedures and budgets. • Use Evidenced Based Practice to translate complex scientific evidence into practical solutions to promote health and manage special health conditions. • Manage on-site gardens, urban/commercial farming, and crop production. • Mange snack programs (staff and students) • Manage School Lunch Program and Daycare food supply. • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel programs. • Ability to work as a team member and ability to meet the physical requirements of the position. • 40 Hours/week which may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends. • Criminal record check required. • Vaccination and inoculations required. • Other duties as required.
