The Mount Continuing Care Community is currently seeking a full-time Maintenance Worker for multiple facilities in Prince Edward Island. The ideal candidate is a Red Seal Plumber (or has extensive plumbing experience) with maintenance experience in commercial buildings. Reporting to the administrator, the maintenance worker is responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance and repair procedures on building interiors and exteriors, mechanical equipment, and utility systems. The maintenance worker is also responsible for overseeing other maintenance workers and coordinating tasks, acting in a supervisory role. They will also act in compliance with Provincial Community Care and Nursing Care Regulations. Currently, there are multiple facility locations, including (but not limited to) Charlottetown, Montague, and Murray River.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications: • Grade 12 equivalency. • Valid driver’s license and driver’s abstract. • WHMIS training. • Criminal record check. • Asbestos safe handling training is an asset. • Preference will be given to red seal plumber or red seal electrician.
Main responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Perform minor and major repair of all buildings and equipment. • Repair or replace broken hardware and fixtures. • Perform plumbing repairs such as unclogging a toilet or sink. • Repair and patch dents, scratches, and walls; prepare surfaces for painting, paint surfaces. • Repair and maintain tools and equipment. • Perform outside duties such as salting, sanding, and snow and ice removal. • Perform custodial duties such as cleaning, dusting, mopping. • Maintain all landscaping and gardens: cut and trim grass, weed flower beds, plant flowers, trim and maintain shrubs, mulch, leave removal, watering and fertilizing, composting. • Keep outdoor areas clean and tidy by removing debris and garbage. • Move furniture and equipment. • Assist with the move-in or move-out process for residents: move luggage, furniture, and other equipment to/from their room. • Assist the multi-service department in maintaining facility cleanliness at all times. • Maintain all heating, ventilation, air handling and air cooling systems. • Complete required maintenance record keeping and paperwork. • Create schedules for routine repair and maintenance. • Price, call, and coordinate trades: electrical, plumbing, security, locksmith, painters, snow removal, pest removal, and contractors. • Maintain all healthcare equipment such as walkers, wheelchairs, lifts, specialized tubs, bed, mattresses. • Perform routine life and fire safety maintenance. • Supervise, hire, and review staff. • Work directly with Multi-Service Supervisor. • Handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality. • Other duties as required.

Shifts may range from 4 to 12 hours, with a combination of days, evenings, every 2nd weekend and holidays. The successful applicant must be able to work a combination of shifts, with flexibility.
Position Available: 50% Wage: $13.85 Hourly
