Purpose of Position: Reporting to the Director of Nursing and RN, the LPN assists other health care personnel, facility staff, and physicians in the care of residents. LPNs will be assigned to one floor for the majority of their work. Teams will be assigned to each floor and neighborhood; duties will be shared when necessary. LPNs will also act in compliance with Provincial Community Care and Nursing Care Regulations. Main Duties
Provide nursing services, within defined scope of practice, to residents based on resident assessment and care plan procedures.
Perform tasks such as vital signs, aseptic techniques including sterile dressing, adhere to infection control policies and procedures, monitor nutritional intake and conduct specimen collection.
Monitor resident progress, evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and consult with appropriate members of the healthcare team.
Provide safety and health education to individuals and their families.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician.
Transfer, lift, and reposition residents.
Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.
Other duties as necessary.
Requirements
Completion of a recognized practical nursing program.
Current registration with the Licensed Practical Nurses Association of PEI.
Ability to work as a team member and ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.
Working Environment
Rotating shifts of 4, 6, 8 and 12 hours.
Rotating shifts including days, evenings, weekends, nights and holidays.
Neighborhoods will consist of 15-18 residents.
Frequent interaction with residents, family members, and the public.
