The Mount Continuing Care Community is currently seeking a part-time Garden Worker for a 10 week term. The ideal candidate is a student returning to full time studies with some gardening experience. Reporting to the activities coordinator, the garden worker is responsible for performing routine tasks for all outdoor and indoor gardens. They will also act in compliance with Provincial Community Care and Nursing Care Regulations.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications: • Grade 12 equivalency. • Valid driver’s license and driver’s abstract. • Criminal record check.
As part of the project, the candidate MUST:
be between the ages of 15 and 30 (inclusive); be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person as defined by the immigration and Refugee Protection Act; be legally entitled to work in Canada; be legally entitled to work according to any provincial/territorial legislation and regulations; and has been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intends to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year (in or outside of Canada).
Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Maintain all landscaping and gardens: cut and trim grass, weed flower beds, plant flowers, trim and maintain shrubs, mulch, leave removal, watering and fertilizing, composting. • Keep outdoor areas clean and tidy by removing debris and garbage. • Complete required record keeping and paperwork. • Assist with activities for residents and students related to the garden. • Handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality. • Other duties as required.

Hours: 22.5 hours per week, including a rotation of weekdays, evenings, holidays, and weekends.
