The Mount Continuing Care Community is currently seeking a casual dietary service worker for our long-term care facility in Charlottetown, PEI. This position reports to the Nutrition Service Manager and assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for the delivery of dietary services in our continuing care community.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications: • Grade 12 equivalency. • Safe food handling course, WHMIS, and CPR. • Ability to work as a team member and ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.
Main responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Prepare food trays with items such as plates, flatware, cups, napkins, and condiments. • Provide friendly and quality meal service to residents, their loved ones, and staff. • Serve complete meals or individual dishes and foods according to portion guidelines. • Prepare food items such as meats, vegetables, fruits, and desserts by cutting, dicing, and slicing them according to the residents’ needs. • Prepare hot and cold beverages. • Serve special meals and/or nutrition supplements for residents as instructed by the dietitian. • Store foods in appropriate containers at proper temperatures according to the food safety policy. • Report observed changes in resident eating habits to Nutrition Service Manager. • Clean-up dishes from dining room and house pantries. Load and run dishwasher according to proper procedure. • Follow all sanitation and infection control procedures. • Read, record, and log information as required. • Clean and set up dining area including dining room television area. • Clean kitchen, dining room, and work areas. • Assist with meeting department goals including food costing, food quality, workplace morale, etc. • Participate in relevant continuing education sessions offered by the workplace. • Other duties as required.
