Covid-19 Vaccine Consent and Information Page - April 2022

The 4th dose of the Covid-19 vaccine is available to residents who qualify. The Moderna Spikevax vaccine will start to be administered this week.
As the next of kin or family member, you will need to consent to the influenza vaccination for your loved one (if they are unable to consent on their own).

The guidance for a 4th dose is:
Based on the National Advisory Committee on Immunization guidance, PEI is recommending that the
following groups be prioritized to receive a 2nd booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine;
1. Individuals in congregate living settings including long-term care and community care facilities
2. Individuals 70 years of age and older living in the community
3. Indigenous adults 18 years and older
Preliminary data suggest the safety of a second booster dose of mRNA COVID-19 vaccine is similar to
previous doses, is well tolerated, with no additional safety signals identified.
Dose & Interval 2nd Booster Dose
Individuals who have received a primary series of COVID-19 vaccine plus a booster dose after
completion of the primary series can now receive a 2nd booster dose 4-6 months following the last dose
with any of the following:
Either Moderna Spikevax (50 mcg) or Pfizer Comirnaty (30 mcg)
Individuals with a previous infection with COVID-19 who are eligible to receive a booster dose should delay immunization for 3 months after symptom onset or positive test (if asymptomatic) provided it is at least 6 months from completing the primary series or 4-6 months from the first booster dose.
