Date of Posting:April 12, 2024 Date of Closing:April 26, 2024 Start Date:To be determined Purpose of Position The Food Services Manager reports to the Administrator and assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for the delivery of dietary services in our continuing care community. The manager will supervise, direct and co-ordinate the activities of workers who prepare, portion and serve food. As a valued member of The Mount Continuing Care Community team, the Food Services Manager must demonstrate a commitment to resident safety by providing quality care that is in accordance with the organizations mission, values, policies, procedures, and any applicable legislation or Board requirements. Main Duties
Develop, maintain, and implement dietary policies in accordance with current standards of practice, facility operational policies, while maintaining compliance with provincial and federal regulations
Respond to and adequately resolve incidents, complaints, or concerns from residents or families about nutritional care services, in accordance with legislation and standards
Develop and implement seasonal 4-week menus
Develop and implement if needed, emergency and disaster menu planning
Facilitate bi-monthly dietary council meetings (address concerns, implement changes)
Coordinate weekly department check in meetings
Follow and educate employees on infection control
Participate in the selection of new hires
Supervise and evaluate the operations of employees (including annual performance reviews)
Mediate conflict situations andparticipate in disciplinary procedures.
Manage employee snack and grocery program
Manage daycare food supply
Manage the U-Pick apple orchard and product processing
Complete regular resident satisfaction meal surveys to ensure implemented menu is meeting the preferences of the residents
Manage food service aspects of special events, such as, theme nightonce/month, Christmas Dinner, Thanksgiving Dinner, Easter Dinner, Shellfish Festival, outdoor BBQs)
Order supplies, maintain a reasonable inventory and monitor finances to determine compliance with assigned budgets
Communicate with suppliers
Ensure all equipment in the kitchen is functional and all staff are trained in using equipment.
Coordinate repair and/or restoration of kitchen equipment
Organize main dining room seating for Community Care residents
Follow and educate employeeson infection control
Input bi-weekly payroll. This includes adjustments of employee punches, inputting vacation time/holiday in lieu/sick time
Complete department scheduling while coordinating community care and multi-service schedules to ensure coverage.
Requirements
Red seal Certification
Previous management experience in food service
Minimum 2 years cooking experience
Leadership skills to guide and support the dietary team
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position
Familiarity with therapeutic diets and nutritional standards for seniors an asset
Proven organizational skills and strong computer capabilities including Microsoft Office use.
Be an engaged collaborative team player, developand maintain professional relationships that support and strengthen the organization/department culture
Current CPR, criminal record check, food safety, immunizations
Working Environment
Rotating shifts between 3 and 12 hours.
Rotating shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Frequent interaction with residents, family members, and the public.
Position Available:Food Services Manager Wage Range:$26-$32 ***Please note that this position is also eligible for benefits once the probationary requirements have been met
