The Mount Continuing Care Community is currently seeking a full-time Cook for our new long-term care facility in Charlottetown, PEI. This position reports to the Dietary Service Supervisor and assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for the delivery of dietary services in our continuing care community.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications: • Grade 12 equivalency. • Completion of related post-secondary training an asset. • Completion of Red Seal. • Safe food handling course, CPR, and WHMIS. • Ability to work as a team member and ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.
Main responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Prepare and cook complete meals, or individual dishes of food. • Prepare and cook special meals for residents as instructed by the dietician. • Supervise dietary service workers. • Oversee kitchen operations, cleaning, and maintenance. • Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment. • Set up and oversee dining area. • Work with the health care team, staff dietician, and provincial dietician to meet residents’ dietary requirements. • Train kitchen staff. • Comply with all policies and procedures of The Mount, and all Nursing Home and Community Care Regulations. • Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality. • Other duties as required.
